Black Jack ABC’s – Part One
The basic premise of the game is to be given cards adding up to twenty-one. Each competitor is dealt two cards. When a player is given a nine or lower value card and an Ace they’ve been handed a soft hand. When the blackjack player is dealt no Ace cards it is called as a hard hand. As soon as the cards have been handed to every player at the table, including the dealer, every gambler is provided the chance to make one of 6 decisions:
Requesting another card (Hit): When a blackjack player says "hit" the dealer will give them another card, if the addition of that card causes the value of the hand to exceed twenty one the blackjack player will have lost and be excluded from the game, if the card pushes the total to twenty-one the blackjack player will be the winner and if the value of the hand hasn’t yet reached twenty-one they’re still in the game.
Keeping the hand you’ve been dealt: If a player is satisfied with the hand they’ll hold. As soon as this has happened the croupier will display his/her cards and the blackjack player who has gotten twenty one or the nearest to twenty-one will come away with a win.
Doubling Down: A black jack player might ask to double down which doubles the bet they have placed. Once you’ve taken this action you can only receive one more card. The specifics of doubling down are often specified by the blackjack table or casino rules so before competing be sure you are comfortable with the casino established rules. If you are wagering at a web-based casino this is normally very simple.
